どこからか ただよってくる 花の かおりに 気づいたでしょうか？ クズの 花です。

クズは、マメの なかまの しょくぶつです。つるを ながく のばし、どうろの よこの しゃめんや ガードレール、木や はやしを おおうように しげっています。日本では むかしから みぢかな しょくぶつですが、かいがいでは ほかの しょくぶつを こまらせる 外から きた しょくぶつと されています。

はが いっぱいに しげっているので、花は あまり 目立ちません。でも、よく さがしてみると、あかむらさきいろの とても きれいな 花が あつまって さいています。そして、ブドウのような あまい かおりが します。花を 見つけるより さきに、その かおりで 気づくことも あります。

クズは、秋の 七草の 一つです。

Have you noticed a floral fragrance drifting from somewhere nearby? It comes from the flowers of kudzu.

Kudzu is a perennial plant in the legume family. Its vines grow long and spread thickly over roadside slopes, guardrails, trees, and woodland. It has long been a familiar plant in Japan, but overseas it is considered an invasive species.

Because its leaves grow so densely, the flowers are not easy to notice. But if you look carefully, you can find clusters of beautiful reddish-purple flowers. And they have a sweet, grape-like fragrance. Sometimes you notice the scent before you even find the flowers.

Kudzu is one of the Seven Flowers of Autumn in Japan.

O kudzu é uma planta perene da família das leguminosas. Suas trepadeiras crescem bastante e cobrem encostas à beira das estradas, guardrails, árvores e bosques. No Japão, é uma planta conhecida há muito tempo, mas, em outros países, é considerada uma espécie invasora.

Como suas folhas crescem densamente, as flores não chamam muito a atenção. Mas, procurando com cuidado, podemos encontrar grupos de belas flores vermelho-arroxeadas. E elas têm um perfume doce, parecido com o de uvas. Às vezes, percebemos o perfume antes mesmo de encontrar as flores.

O kudzu é uma das Sete Ervas do Outono do Japão.
