On Friday, January 23, during the second period of the radiation lesson, students considered the effects of radiation on the human body and the mechanisms of cellular repair.

Marbles and BB pellets launched from a rotating platform roll through a branching point and reach three possible destinations. The left represents “complete repair,” the center represents “abnormal repair,” and the right represents “cell elimination.” The marbles or BB pellets symbolize cells that have been damaged by radiation or other factors. While conducting this model experiment, students thought about what the “direction of the rotating platform and the tilt of the base” and “rolling through the branching point” correspond to in the real world.

The lesson was conducted over two consecutive class periods: Class A in the morning and Class B in the afternoon.

El viernes 23 de enero, en la segunda hora de la clase sobre radiación, los estudiantes reflexionaron sobre los efectos de la radiación en el cuerpo humano y los mecanismos de reparación celular.

Canicas y balines BB lanzados desde una plataforma giratoria ruedan por un punto de bifurcación y llegan a tres destinos posibles. El lado izquierdo representa la “reparación completa”, el centro la “reparación anormal” y el lado derecho la “eliminación celular”. Las canicas o los balines BB simbolizan células dañadas por la radiación u otros factores. Mientras realizaban este experimento modelo, los estudiantes pensaron en qué representan en el mundo real la “dirección de la plataforma giratoria y la inclinación de la base” y el “paso por el punto de bifurcación”.
